A 20-year-old woman attempted taking her life at Kubwa, Bwari Area Council of the FCT, after her boyfriend in a seven-year-old relationship refused to marry her.
City News gathered that the woman met her lover at the age of 13, who later proposed to marry her in the course of the relationship.
The source however said trouble began when the man suddenly changed his mind, saying he was no longer interested in the relationship.
The source said, the woman, who could not bear the disappointment, decided to take her life by drinking a poisonous substance.
City News learnt that she almost died after taking the substance but for the quick intervention of some relations, who rushed her to the Kubwa General Hospital for medical attention.
When contacted, the head, Accident and Emergency unit of Kubwa General Hospital, Paul Olise, said the woman was brought to the hospital in an unstable state, but said she had since been discharged after receiving treatment
